Gogglebox's Marcus and Mica thank fans for 'love and prayers' after family tragedy

Gogglebox stars Marcus and Mica Luther have taken to social media to thank fans for "their love and prayers" following a family tragedy.

The popular couple thanked fans for all their support after Mica opened up about a family bereavement. She explained how she had taken a break from social media following the sad news, the Mirror reports.

Taking to Instagram, she said: "To everyone that has sent love, prayers, concern, well wishes and condolences to our family, on behalf of Marky & I we thank you. I Hope you all have a blessed Day and remember to enjoy each other, blow the dust off them board games, catch some joke, life and memories are so precious."

Meanwhile, Marcus wrote: "As most of you may already know, I have had a bereavement in my family. As a result, the gym will be closed today. Both children and adult sessions are cancelled whilst my family celebrate the life of our loved one."

The beloved pair first appeared on the Channel 4 show back in 2018 and have become a fan favourite ever since. Marcus has explained how he and Mica met but it wasn't always plain sailing explaining how at first Mica 'wasn't interested'.

He told Heat magazine: "She was doing this thing called Alpha Course, so I signed up for it, too, but then she tried to set me up with some other girls from the course. She wasn’t interested."

However, Marcus was able to eventually with his humour and their first date was when he visited her at home with a bottle of wine for Bible study.

Explaining how the first date went, Mica said: "He turned up to mine one night to do Bible study with a bottle of wine. We were sitting opposite each other and I’m thinking 'Footsy? Wine? We’re supposed to be doing Bible study here!' He told me it was fine because Jesus drank wine."

It comes after Gogglebox Stephen Lustig-Webb has announced he is making a huge change to get rid of the 'Sunday Scaries'. The star has received support from fans of the show as he revealed his plans to give up alcohol to improve his mental health.

Stephen took to his Instagram page where he told his followers he'd been on his first booze-free night out. Sharing a snap of a cappuccino, the Channel 4 star said: "First night out in London not drinking done. #nohangover #alcoholfree #noheadaches #nobeerfear #nostrangerdanger #nosundayscaries #onemonthsober"

Gogglebox fans supported Stephen in the comment section. One wrote: "Awesome Eleven years ago I gave up alcohol and what an amazing life it's been (since then... before then it was pretty damn miserable)"

Another said: "I started dry January in 2022 not drank since! Which for me is amazing!!! Feel so much better, well done keep going x" with another adding: "Well done, I may take a leaf outta your book, I feel like crap this morn."
