Gogglebox reveal how they actually find stars after 'untrue' application posts

Gogglebox have revealed how they actually find their stars following 'untrue' application claims.

Bosses of the Channel 4 programme have responded after a string of stories circulated that applications for the show were open to the public.

The posts went crazy on social media, with many encouraging their friends to sign up to be the shows latest telly watchers and earn £1,500 a month.

But in a tweet posted to the 'C4Gogglebox' official account, viewers dreams of being on the show have been dashed.

Posted on Saturday, April 13, the post claimed that the posts referring to their hunt for applicants was 'untrue' and added: "We have never carried out an application process for the show and have predominantly only ever street cast.

"We hugely apologise for any inconvenience."

According to the Mirror , Gogglebox has always insisted that they never advertise for applicants to appear on the show.

Back in 2015, the show's creator Stephen Lambert said: "Everybody on Gogglebox has been found and persuaded to be on the show and I think that's the key to why they are likeable and why the show works, because we get to know these people

"We've never advertised for people on Gogglebox."

The Bafta award-winning series, which sees friends and families become TV's most honest critics, began back in 2013 and quickly became one of the channel's biggest shows.

Manchester's Malone family are series regulars (Channel 4)

Gogglebox currently features Manchester's Malone family who live in Stretford in South Manchester.

The family have became a much-loved addition to the show having joined in 2014 thanks to their constant sweet treat supply and their multiple dogs.
