Gogglebox Giles Wood's secret job which earns lots of money after 'early retirement'

Gogglebox star Giles Wood has a secret day job which rakes in a lot of money.

The fan favourite provides hilarious commentary on the week's best TV alongside wife Mary Killen.

The popular pair have invited us into their eccentric country cottage in Wiltshire for six years since they first appeared on Gogglebox in 2015.

The couple affectionately refer to one another as "nutty" and have charmed audiences with their quirky style.

Away from the show, Mary writes a column for The Spectator and has also had a book published on etiquette titled, How the Queen Can Make You Happy.

During a conversation in an earlier season, Mary suggested Giles had taken an early retirement when they were watching a documentary on coronavirus.

Giles said: "Just as I'm starting to enjoy my retirement."

Mary shot back: "What retirement? You haven't worked first.

"You retired at 21, so now you can start working – do it in reverse."

However, Giles' personal website reveals he works as an artist and he explains what draws him to painting.

He said: "I like the contemplative aspect — sitting for several days in a room, watching the light change.

"There are as many changes as with a landscape. I always work in oils as they give more depth. The finished painting should offer an insight into the painter as well as the subject.”

Gogglebox airs on Friday's at 9pm on Channel 4
