Gogglebox fans threaten to boycott show as 'traumatising' episode leaves stars tearful

Gogglebox fans have threatened to boycott the Channel 4 show following Friday night’s “traumatising” episode.

Some cast members were left with tears in their eyes after watching clips of new nature series, Animal.

In one particularly harrowing scene, a mother kangaroo is being chased by a pack of dingos – but as she runs for her life, her baby falls from her pouch.

Veteran Gogglebox stars Ellie and Izzi, the sisters from Leeds, screamed at the telly as they watched it happen.

Izzi yelled: “Oh no the baby’s going to fall out, don’t fall out!” Blonde sister Ellie shouted: “Oh my God, go back for it!”

The Malone family hid their faces behind cushions, while brother and sister duo Sophie and Pete both covered their faces in disbelief at the programme, as Sophie said: “Oh no!”

Sadly, the joey is quickly set upon by the pack of hungry dingos and is believed to have been eaten.

Although it’s a nature show and we all know the laws of the animal kingdom, some viewers watching at home were less than impressed with the episode being aired.

Taking to Twitter to vent, one upset viewer said: “The nature programmes that they [Gogglebox] show are literally traumatising.”

Others blasted the nature show, which is on Netflix, saying: “That documentary ' Animals ' is awful, f**k you very much for filming that baby roo being eaten and f**k you for showing us gogglebox."

A third fan wrote: “Please stop showing horrific animal stories, like tonight's Joey and Dingo clip. I avoid watching those programmes as they play on my mind, only to be tricked into watching them on your programme!! The warnings are too vague and insufficient."

A fourth said: “Honestly #gogglebox why every week do you bloody insist on showing these bloody nature programmes, as every week I have to switch off!"

While a fifth chimed in: “"STOP PUTTING THE HORRIBLE ANIMAL DEATHS ON."

Another simply added: "Did youse have to show that part?"

The programme, which more often than not makes viewers laugh, quickly moved on to more lighthearted matters.

It cuts to a clip of Gogglebox stars Jenny and Lee – with Jenny telling her friend about the time she left her baby in a pram outside the shops

But viewers were clearly not over what that had just witnessed, as one fan tweeted: “This 'funny' story doesn't make up for that kanga being... Eaten."

Gogglebox has been on our TV screens since 2013 and follows several families around the UK as they sit down to watch what’s on the box this week.

There is also a celebrity version of the show which has featured the likes of Kate Moss, Zoe Ball, Denise Van Outen, Nick Grimshaw and Rylan and his mum Linda.
