Gogglebox fans frustrated as couple jump to defend Boris Johnson

Fans of the hit Channel four show Gogglebox have been left frustrated by one of the show's favourites in tonight's episode. Former model Mary Killen and her husband Giles Wood watched back Susanna Reid's interview with Boris Johnson.

Susanna interviewed the Prime Minister earlier this week live on Good Morning Britain ahead of the local elections. After hitting him with tough questions like "are you honest" Susanna asked Boris about the cost of living crisis.

She used a case study of an old lady called Elsie who uses her bus pass to travel on buses throughout the day in a bid to keep warm. In response Boris praised the use of her bus pass rather than tackling the main issue.

Mary from Wiltshire responded to the interview by saying: "I feel sorry for Elsie but Susanna's making out that it's Boris' fault and that Boris doesn't care. Giles responded and asked: "Whose fault is it?"

Mary replied and said: "Well it is the global situation." However fans of Gogglebox quickly flocked to social media to express their disappointment in Mary.

@KareemaBareema said: "Don’t know why I’m surprised Mary and Giles are tories but now I know for sure. I can’t find them funny in the same way anymore, bye."

@Tyrese54275942 added: "Giles and Mary has definitely let themselves down I used to like them but now I feel like I don't like them anymore #Gogglebox." @frosted_north said: "Very disappointed in Mary right now. #Gogglebox"

@sue_simmonds also said: "That’s it. I’m done. They were my favourites. #Mary….get a grip #Gogglebox." @crbanebula also added: "I thought Giles & Mary would have read the room rather than defending Boris #Gogglebox."

"Mary should be ashamed! Get her off our tv #Gogglebox" said @Ade1e1310. @BerBerGal1 added: "Getting harder to watch Mary each week, what's happened to her?#gogglebox."

Gogglebox continues Friday night at 9pm on Channel Four.
