Gogglebox fans devastated as show favourites Jenny and Lee say goodbye

Gogglebox fans are devastated as show favourites Jenny Newby and Lee Riley bid goodbye to their fans in an Instagram video as they explained the series had concluded.

The show, which airs on Friday nights on Channel 4, has just finished its 17th series which also features stars including Ellie and Izzi Warner, Pete and Sophie Sandiford, Giles Wood and Mary Killen, Marcus Luther and Mica Ven, and families the Malones and the Siddiquis amongst others.

In Lee's trailer, where the best friends film their reactions to the TV picks of the week, Jenny and Lee filmed a video where they said goodbye.

"Happy Friday everybody!" says Lee.

Jenny says: "And sad Friday."

Lee asks: "Why is it so sad?"

Jenny replies: "Because it's my last one."

Lee adds: "Oh, yeah, it's our last filming week this week, so we are filming today..."

Jenny reveals: "I'm going home soon," as Lee pretends to celebrate.

Alongside the video, they wrote the caption: "Have a great Friday everyone last week of filming for us of series 17 ".

One fan replied: "No way, when is the series back on after this series?"

"Aw ye should just film yourselves and post it on here until the next series," added another.

"The gogglebox series should run longer they have seemed to got shorter in the long run," complained a third.

Another begged: "Oh no, don't go, you are the highlight of my week."

Jenny had the nation in stitches while she and Lee watched Line of Duty this series, as Jenny was forced to use a notepad to write down all the complicated happenings of the show so she could keep track.

And at the end of the sixth series, she furiously screwed up her notes in anger at the finale, as H was unveiled and many viewers were left disappointed.

As Lee started to smile at her fury, she threw the ball of paper into his face, telling him: "Don't laugh!"

The former pub landlady struck a chord with many on Twitter, who reacted to her anger.

One fan tweeted: "And she’s absolutely right. Thank you Gogglebox for reacting like the majority of the public. Sod the high brow view! Shockingly bad ending."

Another added: "Jenny's reaction speaking exactly for those who didn't like the ending."

While a third wrote: "Her reaction was just what I wanted."
