GoFundMe campaign raises over €19K for Dublin rugby player injured in Amsterdam

A GoFundMe campaign has been set up for a young rugby player who suffered a serious accident on holiday in Amsterdam.

The crowdfunder in support of Simon Kinsella from Malahide has already exceeded its target and raised over €19,200 as of this afternoon.

Simon is a first team player for Malahide RFC and the club have shared the fundraiser in an effort to support his family as he undergoes treatment, Dublin Live reports.

The fundraiser, named 'Support for Simon' explains that the Dubliner suffered a "tragic accident" which will require "prolonged medical attention".

The campaign reads: "As you may have heard, our friend Simon suffered a tragic accident which required immediate and prolonged medical attention in Amsterdam."

"His family will be with him for the next month and we would like to make this situation easier for them to raise some money to help with expenses.

"Any donation however big or small is greatly appreciated. Thank you."
