Gobsmacked Gemma Collins fangirls over Jeremy Corbyn: ‘What a moment!’

Gemma Collins is the gift that keeps on giving.

She became a meme after wearing that orange dress and broke the Internet after falling through a stage – and now she’s served up the best reaction ever to meeting a politician.

Collins struggled to pick up her jaw from the floor after she was left starstruck at bumping into Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn as she worked the red carpet at the Pride of Britain Awards.

On shaking Mr Corbyn’s hand she said: “What a pleasure it is to meet you in person. It’s going to be an excellent evening.”

Collins, 37, couldn’t contain her excitement, declaring the moment worthy of going “down in history”.

“You just caught that live on TV,” she told ODE Entertainment. “What a moment! That should go down in history.”

Asked if she is a massive fan of Mr Corbyn, she replied: “Well, I know of him. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan but I might talk to him a bit later.”

Collins shared a video of the magical moment on Instagram alongside the caption: “Alright Jezza.”

Collins was among a host of the nation’s biggest stars for the annual bash which celebrates the extraordinary feats of men, women and children in the last year.

She said she had “let my hair down” for the occasion, despite being in the middle of training for Dancing on Ice.

Speaking in an Instagram video on route to Brick Lane to buy a late night snack, she told fans: “Guys the GC doesn’t drink often. I’ve let my hair down tonight. I’ve Dancing On Ice training in the morning. Nothing a bagel can’t cure.”

Other stars at Monday night’s event, which was hosted by Carol Vorderman, included Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, Sir Cliff Richard and Ayda Field and her husband Robbie Williams.
