Gobbo's name to be removed from legal roll

Disgraced gangland barrister Nicola Gobbo will have her name removed from Victoria's legal roll.

Ms Gobbo had been summoned to appear in the Supreme Court on Monday for a hearing about it, but did not attend.

Her double life as an underworld lawyer and police informer sparked the Lawyer X royal commission.

Tim Tobin SC said Ms Gobbo did not oppose the application by the Victorian Legal Services Board.

"(She) accepts the inevitability of her conduct requiring this sanction by the court," he told Justice Jacinta Forbes.

Acting for the legal services board, Elizabeth Bennett referred to evidence including "a lack of candid disclosure" at the time of Ms Gobbo's admission.

She signed the register of lawyers in April 1997, after she was first registered as an informer by Victoria Police.

Ms Gobbo has not renewed her certificate to practise law in Victoria since 2014.

She had three stints as a police informer, the last of which ran from 2005 to 2009.

It involved her snitching on clients including drug kingpin Tony Mokbel and killer Carl Williams.

Justice Forbes said she would publish her reasons on Tuesday for Ms Gobbo's removal from the legal roll.
