Goalkeeping coach Mark Crossley to leave Notts County

Mark Crossley is set to leave Notts County, the club has announced.

The Magpies' goalkeeping coach will depart Meadow Lane when his contract expires at the end of the month.

It ends  a three-year spell at Notts for the ex-Nottingham Forest goalkeeper, who joined the club in the summer of 2016 when John Sheridan was appointed as manager.

After Sheridan was sacked the following December, Crossley remained at the club and became a key part of Kevin Nolan's backroom staff.

Following Nolan's departure from Notts last August, the former Wales international then continued to assist current boss Neal Ardley by helping train the goalkeepers.

A statement on the club website said: "Mark Crossley will leave Notts County when his contract expires this month.

"The former goalkeeper arrived at Meadow Lane in 2016, taking on the role of assistant manager to John Sheridan, and went on to become a key part of the first-team coaching set-up at Meadow Lane.

"Notts thank Mark for his service and wish him well for the future."

Boss Neal Ardley is likely to seek a replacement for the 50-year-old Crossley to help oversee the development of keepers Ross Fitzsimons and Max Culverwell.
