Goalkeeper writes Nottingham Forest farewell with club set to persist in Joe Worrall pursuit

Pantilimon writes farewell to fans

Departing goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has thanked Nottingham Forest fans for making him feel “part of their family” while he was at the club.

The 33-year-old’s time at the City Ground came to an end on Friday, as he signed a two-year deal with Turkish side Denizlispor.

Pantilimon initially joined the Reds on loan in 2018, before making his move permanent that summer.

He was first-choice between the posts in the 2018/19 season, but dropped out of the picture when Sabri Lamouchi took charge little more than a year ago.

The Romanian spent the second half of last term on loan at Cypriot outfit Omonia Nicosia, but returned with little prospect of breaking back into the Forest first-team.

'Burnley to come back for Worrall'

Nottingham Forest will be bracing themselves for more bids from Premier League Burnley for defender Joe Worrall.

Sean Dyche's side are keen on the centre-back with a month to go until the transfer window slams shut and, if reports are to be believed, have already turned down a number of bids for his services.

Reds boss Sabri Lamouchi has told bosses at the City Ground that he wants Worrall to stay ahead of next term in the hope that they will continue to parry any incoming offers.

But Burnley will try again, say reports, after first submitting a bid said to be well below the player's valuation.

The Sun claim Burnley bosses are still very much keen on Worrall and are aware that their initial offers fell well below his asking price.

'Little gem' Preston impresses

Nottingham Forest youngster Danny Preston has made a promising start to life on loan at Grimsby Town.

The 20-year-old got his first taste of Football League action when he started for Grimsby Town in their Carabao Cup clash with Morecambe on Saturday.

And the full-back didn’t take long to make his mark.

Preston put in an impressive performance, weighing in with an assist in the first round tie.

He also netted in the shoot-out which followed as the match finished at 1-1 after 90 minutes, but Ian Holloway’s side lost 4-3 on penalties to see their cup run come to an end.

Walker out to prove he's Championship level

Former Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker will look to prove his doubters wrong this summer - and the club that has let him go.

The 23-year-old left the City Ground for Coventry City this summer after being told that he was no longer in Sabri Lamouchi's plans on Trentside.

He scored a debut goal against MK Dons for Mark Robins' side on Saturday - and on the day that Lewis Grabban, Nuno Da Costa and Lyle Taylor were all in action for Forest, all failing to score against Barnsley.

But he will have to prove he can score goals at Championship level for Forest to rue letting his out of their grasp.

Asked if he feels he can step up and prove himself in the second tier with the Sky Blues, he said: “Yes, you have to have confidence in yourself. I believe in myself and my ability.
