Goalkeeper sends heartfelt message to Nottingham Forest fans after exit

Goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon has thanked Nottingham Forest fans for their support after completing a move to Cyprus.

The Romanian yesterday joined AC Omonia on loan for the rest of the season, having been out of the first-team picture at the City Ground.

Pantilimon initially signed for the Reds on loan in January 2018, before making the move permanent that summer.

He was first-choice between the posts last term, but this time around has not been part of the squad under Sabri Lamouchi.

“Thank you to all the @officialnffc fans for all the support and the way you have made me feel over the last few years,” he posted on Instagram.

“To the @omonoiafootball fans who have been messaging me on social media and welcomed me to this great club with so much support.

“Also to the club and people from the board and the manager for making this move possible.”

Having been frozen out at Forest, Pantilimon says it was an “easy” decision to switch to Omonia.

“I am very happy. Very happy with everyone who made this possible,” he told the club website.

“I want to thank all Omonia people, I am very happy right now.”

Asked what convinced him to put pen to paper, he said: “When you see that they want you so much, that’s the most important thing.

“First with the coach and then with the rest of the Association. So it was easy to decide.”
