Goalkeeper's agent confirms Liverpool interest as Reds eye Mignolet replacement

Liverpool are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to replace Simon Mignolet as Alisson's back-up.

According to the agent of young Turkish goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir, the Reds are stepping up their pursuit of his client to fill the role.

Mignolet is set to depart Anfield at the end of the season having struggled for first team opportunities since the arrival of their Brazilian stopper and Cakir could be their man.

The 23-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season for Trabzonspor leading to interest from a host of European clubs.

Schalke and Lille are also interested - but Erdi Kirkpinar says he has been in contact with Liverpool over a potential deal.

“I know Lille and Schalke are following him. Liverpool are also interested in him.

"Liverpool officials have talked with us, we had some contacts, but no official offer has come from them.”

Cakir has emerged as one of the top goalkeepers in the Turkish Super Lig and recently earned a call-up to the Turkey national side.

He has conceded just 20 goals in 18 appearances this season, keeping five clean sheets.

Alisson has been a star performer for Liverpool since his arrival from Roma for a hefty fee last summer, but Jurgen Klopp will be keen to ensure he has adequate back-up at his disposal with Mignolet's contract running down.
