Republic of Ireland international Stephen Henderson has completed a shock move to Premier League Crystal Palace.
The 31-year-old goalkeeper was a free agent after leaving Nottingham Forest earlier this season, and has been snapped up by Eagles boss Roy Hodgson.
Henderson will provide cover for Palace duo Vicente Guaita and number one Wayne Hennessey – and he’ll fly out to Switzerland to join the rest of the squad for the Uhrencup.
The Irishman, who lists more than a dozen previous clubs join Forest from Charlton three years ago, but made just 16 appearances for the club with his Trentside stay impacted by an Achilles problem picked up in the early stages of the heavy defeat at Norwich in February 2017.
His last outing came in the 5-1 defeat at Chelsea in the Carabao Cup in September that year, before being farmed out on loan to one of his former clubs Portsmouth.
Disaster struck for Henderson, though, suffering a thigh injury on his debut, a problem which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign before going on to train with Bristol City last summer, a move which failed to materialise.
He then agreed a short-term deal at Wycombe Wanderers last season, playing three times during his stint at Adams Park.
After coming back to the City Ground, Henderson featured for the Forest Under-23 side before being released at the end of the campaign, along with Northern Irish international Jamie Ward.
Henderson could find himself back at the City Ground on Friday week with Hodgson's Eagles set to face Forest in a friendly on Trentside.
