PANAJI: Health minister Vishwajit Rane, who absented himself from the assembly session on health grounds on Monday, the day the opposition raised the issue of the oxygen shortage related Covid deaths in May, was active on social media.
Later during the day, in two different posts on Twitter and Facebook, Rane revealed his activities. In a Facebook post, the health minister said that he interacted with people from Baherilwada, Keri, yesterday (Sunday) morning, and discussed issues concerning their well-being.
His Twitter post read: “While in Belwada, also visited the Ravalnath temple and spent blissful time there. Took blessing from the Almighty to bless our people of Sattari and Usgao.”
There was however no mention of the day he visited Belwada.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar postponed questions pertaining to Covid deaths inviting the fury of opposition members for robbing them of the chance to expose the government’s “Covid mismanagement” when the state faced the ugliest phase of the pandemic in April-May.
The health minister is one of the few ministers in the Sawant government, who is very active on social media.
He regularly gives updates about his activities, whether visits to villages in his constituency, or health centres.
