QUEPEM: With only four of the eight counters at Goa Electronics Ltd’s (GEL) Quepem facility operational, the place is crowded at most times, making it difficult to follow social distancing. The facility also does not have adequate staff leading to a lengthy waiting period.
“There’s a single counter for applicants seeking certificates of birth, death, resident, income and caste, survey plans and Form I and XIV. One can see 50 or more people in the queue on most days,” local Audhoot Sukhtankar said.
Another person who recently visited the facility said her turn came after an hour’s wait. “The queues moved at a slow pace as there were just four people on duty.”
