PANAJI: The state government has agreed to hike the dearness relief for pensioners from 28% to 34% and has now issued an order that the allowance has to be disbursed with the pension in May.
An office memorandum issued by finance under secretary Pranab Bhat also stipulated that the arrears that have accumulated since January have to be paid with the pension for May.
The pension disbursing authority shall be responsible for calculating the quantum of dearness relief payable to each individual.
The Centre’s department of pension & pensioners’ welfare notified an increase in the dearness relief (DR) to Central government pensioners and family pensioners by 3% effective January 1.
