PANAJI: Goa legislative assembly was adjourned a few minutes after it met on Monday and even before question hour could begin after opposition members rushed to the well of the House over Covid deaths linked to oxygen shortage at the state-run GMC in May.
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat first raised an objection stating they had received a reply to the question on Covid deaths even as it was not postponed. He was later joined by GFP MLA Vijai Sardesai and independent MLA Rohan Khaunte.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar adjourned the sitting of the House till 12.30pm after opposition members refused to accept the ruling given by him while health minister Vishwajit Rane was absent.
The speaker said Rane had sought a leave as he was "unwell", questions listed against names were postponed.
MLA Khaunte, however, said in Rane’s absence, the CM could reply to health related questions.
Earlier questions on Covid deaths and Covid management including postponed questions - listed to be answered in the ongoing session - about purchases made for the pandemic, on communidade land grab, and Mopa airport, were yet again deferred to the next session even as Sardesai, Khaunte objected.
