PANAJI: The North Goa superintendent of police (SP) Shobit Saxena suspended a police sub-inspector (PSI) Utkrantrao Desai attached to Panaji police station on the charges of dereliction of duty.
The Goa Police said that during 2015 to 2017, the PSI had shown 29 cases as disposed, which included chargesheets and final reports.
The officials said that upon inquiry, it was found that the cases which were shown by the PSI as disposed had never reached the court.
They added that as these cases never reached the court, there was no trail left and this ultimately resulted in delay in serving justice.
During the suspension period, Desai has been asked to report to the North Goa district headquarters.
