
Many opted to go out for a drive as a way of enjoying a rare four-day weekend, which clogged up the highways, one after another.
Traffic was lower than usual compared to the same period due to the pandemic, but the Ebina service area, a rest stop in Kanagawa Prefecture on the Tomei Expressway, was packed with people filling up the parking lots on Sunday, the second day of the long-weekend.
According to Japan Road Traffic Information Center, long lines of cars were seen near the Higashimatsuyama Interchange in Saitama Prefecture of the Kanetsu Expressway and on the inbound lane of the Hanyu Interchange in Saitama Prefecture of the Tohoku Expressway.
