Go inside the American Horror Story: Hotel, built just for San Diego Comic-Con

July 11--Every year the TV series "American Horror Story" reboots itself entirely, but keeps much of the same cast members. We've seen returning main character Jessica Lange as a German ringmaster, a conflicted nun, a chain-smoking ex-housewife and a modern-day witch.

But the new series will lose "Horror Story" staple Lange, while gaining musician Lady Gaga and a hotel. And that brand new hotel was built on site at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, and we've got images.

Naturally the hotel itself is a stunning piece of work. Keeping up with "American Horror Story's" history of constructing truly gorgeous sets worthy of the window space in any Restoration Hardware story.

And if you can say one thing about showrunners Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, creators of "Glee," it's that while their ideas for "AHS" are usually laced with uncut insanity ("AHS: Asylum" was centered around alien abductees inside an insane asylum run by a former Nazi and home to robot spiders, possessed nuns and creatures from outer space), their sets are always, always stunning.

It looks like AHS: Hotel will be much of the same beauty because this off-site Comic-Con experience was downright gorgeous. Staffers even had adorable little bellhop hats. Inside the hotel were keys, a lovely check-in booth and a weird cash-grab machine. We're not sure how the cash-grab experience will directly tie into the character arcs in the new series, but it wouldn't be the weirdest thing to ever happen on "AHS."
