LUCKNOW: A woman customer service executive of Go First Airline suffered a head injury at Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh airport on Sunday afternoon, after a flyer stopped from boarding a Mumbai flight, tossed his luggage on the acrylic glass table at the counter and the airline executive was hit by a flying shard that ripped off the edge.
Sparks flew at Go First’s counter 2 around 2.40pm after the passenger, Chandrabhan Singh, insisted on boarding the flight, which he claimed was delayed by over 90 minutes. According to the official website of Lucknow airport operated by Adani Group, the Mumbai flight of Go First Airline departure time was 1:35 pm, but it flew at 3 pm.
The airline executive, Ramneek Kaur, however, categorically told him that boarding was closed. But Singh refused to buy the argument, triggering the unsavoury incident that caused injuries to the airline executive.
She was swiftly wheeled away to a nearby hospital and Singh was arrested and whisked away to Sarojininagar police station. The 26-year-old accused, a resident of Musafirkhana area of Amethi district, was nabbed by a constable with airport police outpost, Sandeep Kumar.
“The airline staff accused, that passenger came late to the airport and he was not allowed to board the Mumbai flight. The flyer lost his temper and engaged in an argument with the airline executive, Ramneek Kaur. After he banged his heavy luggage at counter 2, the glass top cracked and a shrapnel hit Kaur, who suffered a two-inch deep gash on the forehead. The accused passenger has been booked for voluntary causing hurt, insult and breach of peace and damaging public property,” said SHO Sarojini Nagar.
Speaking to TOI, Go First Airline spokesperson Ratandeep Suri said, “The flight was on time and departed at 2:55 pm and the passenger arrived late for checking at 2:40 pm. There was no delay in the flight.”
