Apparently, eating pizza in the U.S. now requires a language test. At a Pizza Hut in Gladstone, Missouri, a woman decided that hearing Spanish in public was an act of treason, but learned the hard way that ignorance isn’t on the menu.
On Oct. 20, when a couple of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent were quietly chatting in Spanish while waiting for their pizza order, a woman decided to make it her business. Draped in MAGA righteousness, the woman interrupted them with a self-declared rule: Speak in “American English.” Hilariously enough, she insisted that “English is the capital of America,” which is both grammatically unsound and geographically impossible.
When the man explained he was bilingual and speaks English and Spanish, she doubled down, saying, “I’m born and raised here too, and all I speak is English.” Well, that’s on you, lady. Feel free to learn another language if your intellect allows. The MAGA maniac also alleged too surely that the couple must be Mexicans, and rolled her eyes. The couple then replied, “No Mexico. I’m from Cuba, I’m from Puerto Rico.”
The lady then straight-up asked them to “go back to Puerto Rico.” Even then, the man calmly corrected her, saying they were U.S. citizens and he worked two jobs and paid taxes. Her reply? “I’m standing up for America.” For someone so obsessed with American civics, she seemed impressively unfamiliar with it. One X user pointed out, “It’s scary how many Americans are so ignorant. She doesn’t even realize Puerto Rico is part of America.”
The couple soon sought help from the Pizza Hut staff, who, to the MAGA woman’s disbelief, refunded her money and refused to serve her. The staff also apologized to the couple and told the woman straight and strictly, “Ma’am, you can leave.” But to save her own, she insisted that “I’m not a racist” and claimed that the staff is required to serve her because she’s American. Thankfully, that’s not how the world works.
The scene unfolded just months after Trump’s March 2025 executive order designating English as the official language for federal operations, which some supporters have distorted into a blanket “English-only” rule for everyone, everywhere, which is nowhere near true. But this woman’s racist outburst is the viral embodiment of that misunderstanding.
The clip os the incident, recorded by the couple, quickly went viral on social media. Users on X expressed their disappointment over the sad state of the U.S., where racism is growing every day due to Trump’s policies. One user wrote, ‘The irony is staggering. Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens by birth, so telling them to ‘self-deport’ is like telling a Texan to go back to Texas.” Another hilariously commented, “I always wanted to visit English, the capital of America.” A third summed it up best: “I don’t think what she’s speaking is English either. It’s Racistglist.”
