Plans for 20 new homes to be built in Harthill have been given the go ahead in principle.
The proposals, from Aspire Holdings Ltd, to construct 20 new houses in Edinburgh Road including new vehicular access and the demolition of an existing home were given the green light by council planners.
In its report planners state: “Whilst this application is for planning permission in principle, an indicative layout drawing has been provided which demonstrates that the site has the potential to provide up to 20 dwellinghouses whilst still complying with the council’s guidance on space around houses and parking.
“This application complies with the zoning of the site as a site for short term housing development as identified in the North Lanarkshire Local Plan. No new issues are raised by this application.
“It is therefore recommended that permission be granted.”
Five objections and one comment in support was received during the neighbour notification and advertisement of this application.
One objector said: “I feel the new access is to close to existing property and a roundabout which has had numerous accidents already.
“This is also a key route for kids going to local primary school, my property is right behind this site and worried about drainage and privacy.
“I have lived here for 17 years and never saw a mouse. Since the site was cleared of some trees we have rodents out our back gardens.”
