GNIDA fines company Rs 1 lakh for flouting mechanical sweeping norms

GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida authority issued penalties worth Rs 1 lakh on Antony Waste Handling Cell Pvt Ltd for causing dust and air pollution by violating guidelines related to mechanical sweeping.

Mechanical sweeping of major roads were carried out in Greater Noida.

Some of these roads include the Surajpur-Kasna Road, 105-metre road, 130-metre road etc.

The Antony Waste Handling Cell Company is responsible for mechanical sweeping of these major routes where it is required to sprinkle water on the roads before carrying out the sweeping activity.

But the company was found to do the job without sprinkling water, leading to dust pollution.

Following this, Salil Yadav, deputy general manager and in-charge of the public health department GNIDA, imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the company.

Instructions were given to deposit the amount in the account of the authority with a warning for strict action if the act was found repeated.
