GMP explain police presence in Bolton overnight

Greater Manchester Police have been patrolling criminal activity hot spots in Bolton.

Officers from GMP's Violence Reduction Unit (VRU) have been on patrol in Maltby Drive all week as part of its ongoing operation to target locations based on community reports and concerns.

In a tweet on Tuesday, GMP Bolton South said its patrols in the area are "to reduce violent crime, keeping you and your belongings safe".

Established in October 2019, the VRU is a team of subject leads and experts from across the public and voluntary sectors addressing the underlying causes of violence and working together with communities to prevent it.

GMP Bolton South posted a picture at 11.16pm on Saturday of an officer on Maltby Drive.

It said: "The Violent Reduction Team are out patrolling your area tonight targeting hot spot locations for criminal activity."

If you have any information about crime in your area you can report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
