GMB weather host Laura Tobin warns of snow, sub-zero temperatures and biting winds for North East

Good Morning Britain weather presenter Laura Tobin has issued a bleak warning for what conditions we can expect for the North East on Tuesday going into Wednesday, with more snow showers, sub-zero temperatures and "biting winds."

Overnight Sunday into Monday, many parts of the region saw snow as temperatures took a tumble again, with further snow fall throughout the day.

And, speaking on Tuesday's GMB, Laura told viewers in the East to expect more of the same, after 'the coldest night' of winter so far with temperatures of close to -16 in eastern Scotland.

Giving one of her first weather forecasts of the day, Laura explained: "We continue to see these snow showers feeding in through these eastern coasts, but also biting winds as well.

"First thing this morning temperatures have fallen way below freezing. Snow showers feeding in from these eastern coasts; sub zero and for some it will stay like that all day long so more ice days to come."

Giving her final update on Tuesday's show, Laura added: "More snow showers coming in through eastern areas of England and Scotland....like the last few days they're banded together on these strong easterly winds - so a zone of showers, a clear spell, a zone of showers, feeding all the way down the eastern coast, some making their way further west.

"Temperatures today will struggle to get to freezing, some will stay below all day long; that's called an ice day."

As the temperature on the weather map for Newcastle showed a very chilly -3, she ended: "But when you add in the wind at 40-50mph it will feel like -5/-6.

"We continue this as we head into this evening and overnight...and we repeat it all again as we head into tomorrow."
