GMB viewers slam Piers Morgan and ITV crew for failing to follow coronavirus rules

Eagle-eyed Good Morning Britain viewers were fuming yesterday (March 30), accusing the show of breaking Government social distancing measures.

People watching on spotted a crew member failing to abide by the strict rules during a segment with actor James McAvoy, Mirror Online reports.

McAvoy, ironically, was talking about his donation of £275,000 to a crowdfunding campaign to buy essential personal protective equipment for frontline NHS staff treating those suffering from coronavirus.

The mishap contradicted the messages of controversial presenter Piers Morgan, who for much of the show slammed people failing to follow the social distancing rules aimed at slowing the spread of covid-19, including MP Stephen Kinnock.

So GMB fans were shocked to see the shows crew not following the same guidance.

After the staff member was seen running in between Piers and Lorraine Kelly to handover a piece of paper, disgruntled viewers rushed to Twitter to criticise the assistant and hosts.

One said: "You are doing a lot of good work @piersmorgan. But please, social distancing on set. Did that assistant have to hand that piece of paper next to you? Could it not have been collected or sent electronically?"

Another wrote: "So the chap that dropped off the paper to @piersmorgan wasn’t 2 meters away! You can’t **** @realDonaldTrump when you're just as close in the studio, breathing the same recirculated air... @DrHilaryJones what say you?"

"Not practising what they are preaching," ranted another viewer.

"So the guy that just placed the notes on Piers desk thinking he was off camera kept his 2 metres distance! What a load of ********."

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV at 6am.
