GMB viewers say Nigel Farage should receive knighthood as Brexit day arrives

Brexit day has finally arrived, and some Good Morning Britain viewers believe British politician Nigel Farage should receive a knighthood for all he has done.

Appearing on today's episode of the show, the politician spoke to Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard about the UK's last day in the EU as the country prepares to leave at 11pm tonight.

It comes after the EU Parliament’s ratification of PM Boris Johnson’s Withdrawal Agreement.

Celebrating the historic day, Nigel Farage - leader of the Brexit Party - took to Twitter to share his delight: "At last the day comes when we break free. A massive victory for the people against the establishment."

And it seems many people are in agreement with him, with some even suggesting that the 55-year-old should receive a knighthood on social media.

One viewer tweeted: "Well done. Great work. Your knighthood surely is on its way."

Another added: "Nigel you deserve a Knighthood !! Well played ! Im so happy today !"

"You are without doubt a true Brit with grit. You deserve a knighthood. Thank you for fighting for us." A third said.

Someone else agreed: "Always said he was a top bloke. Heard him live a few times. Awesome orator. Needs a knighthood IMO and a seat near the top @Nigel_Farage"

" @Nigel_Farage thank you, today is a great day. @BorisJohnson a knighthood is deserved, history has been made and without the tireless campaigning of @Nigel_Farage this would never have happened." A fifth wrote.

Another said: "I know it’ll never happen but @Nigel_Farage deserves a knighthood."

Another tweeted PM Boris Johnson, asking for him to endorse such a knighthood: " @BorisJohnson Sir, your first job tomorrow is to recommend a Knighthood for @Nigel_Farage to Her Majesty."

Mentioning the tweets to the politician on the ITV programme, Ben Shephard asked Nigel his thoughts about a possible knighthood.

He said: "Someone on Twitter suggested that Nigel should be knighted for what he's managed, he deserves a lot more than the other people who have received knighthoods for so little..."

He continued: "...'Sir Nigel Farage' has a nice ring to it, don't you think?"

Smiling and chuckling over the suggestion, Nigel replied: "Well I don't think it's going to happen in a hurry really.

"I'm the anti-establishment figure, they don't like me."

However, not everyone was for the idea.

One viewer tweeted: "some people saying Nigel Farage should receive a knighthood. Oh my god HAHAHAHAHA."
