GMB viewers question themselves over Richard Madeley's latest 'Alan Partridge' moment

Richard Madeley had Good Morning Britain viewers second guessing themselves this morning.

The host was back at the helm of the ITV show alongside Susanna Reid as they reacted to the fallout from Boris Johnson's latest lockdown announcement.

However, it was then end of the show when there was a bit of light entertainment that fans of the show had to do a double take - or should we say double listen.

It came as Susanna teased the upcoming interview with Arlene Phillips, who has become a dame in the Queen's 2021 birthday honours.

After speaking to minister Michael Gove, the 50-year-old said: "Michael Gove has things to do... and so do we as Dame Arlene Phillips joins us..."

There was a slight pause from Susanna after Richard wolf whistled.

"Congratulations," Susanna is then heard shouting as the show cut to a break.

But Richard's whistling didn't go unnoticed by viewers.

"Did @richardm56 just wolf whistle the next interview that's with Arlene Phillips, WTF #GMB," one tweeted.

Another said: "Give over. Richard Madeley did not just wolf whistle, did he…? #gmb."

"Yes #SusannaReid he did just wolf whistle on live TV!" a third added.

A fourth commented: "Did Richard Madeley just woof whistle when @susannareid100 introduced @arlenephillips? I thought I was watching@GMB not #ThisTime with the #RealAlanPartridge ? #GMB."

And the Alan Partridge mention is nothing new for the former This Morning host.

The 65-year-old's random comments and occasion gaffe's have had viewers comparing him to Steve Coogan's fictional character ever since his first appearance as a host on GMB many years ago.

Therefore his latest move has viewers repeating the comparison.

Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge (BBC Studios/Andy Seymour)

"Do us a favour. There’s only so much real Alan Partridge one can take. Wolf-whistling Arlene Phillips and telling us all she’s ‘in great nick’. What is Richard Madeley presenting? @GMBin 2021 or New Faces circa 1975? #GMB," tweeted one.

Another said: "I wish Steve Coogan finally admit that Alan Partridge is based on Richard Madeley. #GMB."

"I honestly can not tell the difference between GMB and This Time with Alan Partridge anymore now Richard Madeley is hosting. #GMB #ThisTimeWithAlanPartridge @APartridgeQOTD," a third previously commented.
