GMB viewers praise Sean Fletcher as presenter speaks Welsh on show

Good Morning Britain viewers have praised presenter Sean Fletcher after Susanna Reid revealed he had filmed a Welsh documentary.

The newsreader, who recently starred in BBC's Keeping Faith, was caught off guard when his co-hosts quizzed him over the new S4C programme.

Sean, who learnt the language following his wedding, admitted he was rusty ahead of press interviews - although he replied in Welsh when Susanna asked if he would like to practise his second language.

The presenter revealed he was swatting up on his vocabulary during Good Morning Britain.

"I knew you spoke some Welsh but you've just filmed an entire programme in Welsh," Susanna said to Sean.

Responding, he explained: "Yes, I filmed a documentary in Welsh for S4C, the Welsh language broadcaster, I did that at the end of last year and it's going out next week and so I've got a whole day of press interviews in Welsh and my Welsh is a little bit rusty.

"Literally I get a bit rusty and I get nervous about all these press interviews," he said, adding: "I've got all my vocab here, I'm swatting up on it."

Sean explained: "I used to be awful at languages in school, I used to be in all the bottom sets for French but my wife speaks Welsh and on my wedding day I stood up after a glass of wine and said 'I'm going to learn Welsh'. So now it's a long road."

Viewers loved the admission, with one writing: "Nice to hear some Welsh language on @GMB this morning."

And another adding: "@SeanFletcherTV is SOOOO impressive!

"Welsh is a hard language to learn so FULL respect to him to for doing that, to the extent he can film full Welsh show. #GMB you have an incredible testament to diversity here, don't lose him!"

Sean's documentary, which is about the 1919 Cardiff Race Riots is called Terfysg yn y Bae and will air on S4C on May 13 at 9pm.
