GMB viewers cringe as Game Of Thrones actor keeps correcting Charlotte Hawkins in 'awkward' interview

Good Morning Britain viewers were left cringing during a recent interview on the show.

Charlotte Hawkins and Ranvir Singh were heading up Wednesday's edition of the ITV news programme and were joined by Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon.

The actor appeared on GMB via video link to promote his latest role in new film The Toll, which is described as a darkly-comic thriller set in Wales.

After chatting about the upcoming movie, Charlotte turned the conversation to another of Iwan's roles.

The Carmarthen star, 36, is involved in animated HBO Max series, The Prince, which depicts the royal family.

The satirical series, written by Family Guy scribe Gary Janetti, sparked backlash from royal fans with its portrayal of Prince George a particular sore point.

Iwan, who has also known for his role in E4 series Misfits, provides the voice of Prince William.

Asking him about the show, Charlotte said: "There’s another show that you’re in called The Prince that had a little bit of controversy surrounding it, didn’t it?

"What do you feel about playing that and how was it? It’s a story about Prince Louis, of course, that not everyone was keen to see were they?"

Iwan had to correct Charlotte's mistake, responding: "Prince George – but I think it’s up to the audience to decide what they feel about something, I guess it’s about the themes, about the writer."

He added: "It hasn’t aired in Britain."

Things became more awkward when Charlotte suggested he had previously wanted to take part in Eurovision.

"Did I? I don’t remember that," he said slightly confused.

Ranvir then asked about an upcoming performance this weekend with his band, only for Iwan to tell them that the performance had already taken place and that is was as a solo act.

To end the interview, the hosts also spoke about his child and whether there would be birthday celebrations today.

"I understand you have a little one, haven't you? Is it there birthday today? You may well be celebrating in your house, is that right?" Charlotte said.

However, Iwan had to once again correct them and confirmed his child’s birthday was over a week ago.

"Erm, it was... Erm, it was a couple of... It was the 14th," Iwan said in response.

And viewers picked up on the mistakes.

"Cringe!! Fair shout though, it didn't fluster you. Was it a prank? #gmb," tweeted one.

Another said: "Felt awful for @CharlotteHawkns & @ranvir01 interviewing @iwanrheon on @GMB … research team clearly had a mare but [clapping emoji] for remaining calm and professional."

"Awkward interview. Constantly interrupting Iwan Rheon and clearly haven't done their research properly with the daft questions they're asking! #GMB," a third commented.

A fourth asked: "Who the hell did the research for Iwan’s interview all questions incorrect #gmb."

"#gmb pulling out all the incorrect facts about Iwan this morning," another noted.
