GMB viewers baffled as Amelle Berrabah from The Sugababes is brought in for royal debate

Good Morning Britain had a debate about where Meghan Markle and Prince Harry should be spending Christmas, but their choice of royal expert left viewers scratching their heads.

The ITV chat show opted to have Amelle Berrabah, a former member of The Sugababes, to argue that the royal couple should be spending the festive season with the Queen.

Amelle, 35, argued that Christmas should be about family and Meghan and Harry shouldn't be away from his family at this time.

She said: "For me it's about family it's the one time of the year where people should make the effort to be with each other.

"I just want to see my family, I want to see my mum."

But viewers were less interested in her arguments and more confused about why she had become the show's latest royal expert.

One tweeted: "Why is Amelle from the Sugababes on my telly slating Harry and Meghan for not spending Christmas with the Queen?! So weird."

Another posted: "Why the hell is Amelle that was in the Sugababes for 5 minutes commenting on the Queen's Christmas on GMB?"

A third said: "Why the hell is an ex-Sugababe commenting on where Megan & Harry spend Christmas?"

A fourth agreed: "#AmelleBerrabah loves spending Christmas with her mother, but doesn’t understand why Meghan would want to spend it with her's and not the Royal family ? #ColourMeConfused."

Meghan and Harry have confirmed they will spend Christmas with her mum Doria Ragland.

They are heading to California with their six month old son Archie.

Prince William and Kate are expected at Sandringham with their three children and other members of the royal family.
