GMB slammed for 'all time low' as Taliban interviewed by Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to slam the programme today as a Taliban spokesman was interviewed on the show.

Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard spoke to Dr Suhail Shaheen who was representing the Taliban on the ITV morning show.

Dr Shaheen said people who wanted to leave Afghanistan would be allowed to and that there would be no reprisals for those who had worked with the West.

He also said women would be allowed to continue their education and could work, as long as they wore the hijab.

Susanna and Ben pointed out people had already been targeted in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over, but Dr Shaheen said it wasn't "official policy" and that fighters who went against it would be punished.

But viewers were left feeling uncomfortable and angry by the lengthy interview, arguing the Taliban shouldn't have been given a platform at all.

Vicky Fitzjohn said: "Seen it all now don't understand why you would even want to talk to someone like that!"

Ian said: "Wow you have gone to an all time low."

Dave said: "Surely this is #GMB 's lowest point. This is not journalism, it's a political broadcast by the Taliban."

Ursula said: "Absolutely shocked at #GMB "

Lee Adams said: "Why is Good Morning Britain even entertaining this."

And Sarah Withrington said: "Makes me feel sick and unsettled watching this interview."

*GMB continues at 6am on ITV tomorrow
