GMB's Susanna Reid 'terrified' of new co-host Alastair Campbell according to ITV viewers

Good Morning Britain viewers have accused Susanna Reid of being 'terrified' of new co-host Alastair Campbell over what he might say as settles into his guest presenter role.

Alastair made his controversial debut on the ITV daytime show on Monday alongside Susanna, who herself predicted he'd spark some strong opinions as she spoke about the former spin doctor in a preview advert last week.

And, as he admitted to 'breaking' Covid rules on his first day at work, as well as revealing that it was him that introduced Ulrika Jonsson to Sven Goran Eriksson and set the ball rolling on their ill fated relationship, viewers at home claimed that Susanna appeared on edge about Alastair.

One took to Twitter to post: "Susannas terrified of Alastair Campbell talking out of turn, you can hear her groan and sharp intake of breath when he starts to speak, She's on hyper alert!"

A second accused of her of being 'awkward', tweeting: "When Susanna Reid was on BBC she always seemed really good & likeable - but there is just something a bit ‘off’ and awkward about her on GMB."

Having sympathy for former BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna, another viewer tweeted: "Suzannah (sic) Reid must have been very wicked in a past life, having got rid of serial foghorn Piers Morgan, only to be condemned to serial bore Alastair Campbell for the next however many years."

Others very much approved of Susanna and Alastair's partnership, with one reacting: "Thoroughly enjoyed Alastair's gentle manner and journalistic depth. Brought the best out in Susanna Reid," and a second posting: "love Alastair Campbell as presenter, he works well with Susanna."

Alastair will present Good Morning Britain with Susanna until Wednesday and, prior to starting his stint on the show, shot down comparisons to former host Piers, tweeting: "Checking the presenter chair… No, I am NOT the new @PiersMorgan.”
