GMB's Susanna Reid issues warning to viewers over Martin Lewis' return to show

Susanna Reid has told viewers they "can't afford to miss," Good Morning Britain when Martin Lewis returns to join her on the ITV show.

Earlier this week it was confirmed that money saving expert Martin, who has been a popular guest host on GMB as well as hosting his own Money Show for the channel, had landed a full time new role on the breakfast programme, with the introduction of Money Mondays, as concern grows over the cost of living crisis.

Confirming the news himself, Martin said: "I’ve been the Money Saving Expert for over 20 years – and in that time I’ve never seen anything like the cost of living crisis hitting the nation today, focused around the sickening rises in energy bills. Millions of families risk being forced into poverty by it."

He added: "Sadly right now the best I can hope to offer many of those families is damage limitation, only the politicians have the power to provide actual solutions. So sitting alongside Susanna each Monday, I’m glad GMB is giving us a dual purpose of practical help and holding power to account."

Susanna has been absent from screens for well over a month now as she, like other ITV colleagues like Lorraine Kelly, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, has been taking an extended break for summer. However, she does feature in a new advert for the show, alongside Martin, which has been on heavy rotation this week.

In it, Susanna begins: "As the cost of living crisis deepens with energy bills predicted to hit over £3,000 a year," before Martin says: "I'll be alongside Susanna, pressing politicians for solutions and asking your practical questions. Urging people to tune in, Susanna then adds: "You can't afford to miss it."

Martin's GMB return was also referenced on the show's official Twitter account, with the post about him gathering plenty of comments. One replied: "Remarkable man doing a great job. This is needed," with another writing: "So glad martin is doing this!!! Thank you for helping. Let’s hope something gets sorted."
