GMB's Susanna Reid 'can't believe' Louise Minchin is quitting BBC Breakfast

Good Morning Britain presenter Susanna Reid has told rival Louise Minchin that she 'can't believe' she is quitting BBC Breakfast.

It came as a huge shock to viewers when Louise, 52, announced on Tuesday that she is walking away from the morning programme after 20 years at the helm.

She told people watching at home: "Let me take a deep breath, everybody there is something I want to tell you about.

"It will be this year 20 years since I first presented this programme.

"Since then I've felt part of a huge, enormous BBC Breakfast family which includes everyone who works here, everyone on the team and every one of you who watches the programme.."

She continued: "I've loved being part of it but - there is a but - I've decided that is time that I stop setting my alarm for 3.40 - sometimes if I'm feeling really rebellious 3.46 - in the morning and I'm going to be leaving the programme.

Like many viewers, GMB host and former BBC Breakfast anchor Susanna was massively surprised by Louise's announcement and told her: "Can’t believe you’re finally chucking the alarm clock! Good luck in whatever you do next"

Sharp to react to Susanna's message, one of her many followers replied: "On her way to @GMB?????" while others speculated that Susanna could be going the other way.

One tweeted: "Get @susannareid100 back on the sofa ???" and taking things further, another reacted: "This is BBC Breakfast with Dan Walker and Susanna Reid..." nice ring to it don't you think?"

Susanna's old GMB presenting partner in crime Piers Morgan took the opportunity to wind up Dan by tweeting: "Stop blubbing Dan - I start Monday. BBC wanted the guy who beat you in the ratings, and the first same-sex male breakfast presenting team to appease the wokies."
