GMB's Susanna Reid and Alastair Campbell in heated row over Tony Blair

Susanna Reid clashed with Alastair Campbell on only his second day as guest host on Good Morning Britain as the two rowed over Tony Blair's alleged 'war lies.'

Ex Prime Minister Blair's former spin doctor is presenting alongside Susanna for three days this week to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.

And on Tuesday they were joined by former Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, who told them he believed current PM Boris Johnson had told more "lies" than any of his predecessors.

Bercow told the GMB presenting duo: "I served in the House of Commons alongside five Prime Ministers, four during my tenure as speaker – Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, David Cameron, Teresa May and Boris Johnson.

“None of the four preceding Boris Johnson was in my judgement guilty of deliberately misleading the House of Commons.”

However, challenging those claims, Susanna responded: "Sorry, I just need to interrupt because people will be screaming what about Alastair?

"When Tony Blair told us about the reasons for going into war in Iraq and those turned out not to be the case.

"People will assume that there are things said in Parliament or politicians that every often turn out not to be true.”

Not happy with what she was saying, Alastair interrupted Susanna to tell her: “Let me answer it, six inquiries none have found him, or for that matter me (guilty) and as you know, this is my point about this whole lying business, we get attacked over lies that were not told 18 years on.

“This guy can say something that isn’t true in Parliament a week ago and it’s already forgotten.”

But, standing firm on her point, Susanna asked him: “What is it that you are saying that Boris Johnson lied about in Parliament?"

After handing it over to Bercow to answer the former Speaker alleged that Boris Johnson was in the wrong for claiming "the economy under this Conservative Government has grown by 73 percent," with Bercow adding: "the figure is in fact 20 percent. "

He also took the current PM to task for saying there are 400,000 fewer families living in poverty, but Susanna fired back: "“The Prime Minister doesn’t stand up in Parliament by himself,” Reid said.

“There’s an opposition there, an opposition that you have just voted for. Surely, it is the role of the opposition to say he's wrong."
