Richard Bacon has recalled an unnerving realisation he had when visiting Afghanistan.
The guest presenter for Good Morning Britain opened the show with returning lead host Susanna Reid on Friday morning's show.
As the pair made their introductions at 6.30 am, Susanna asked Richard how his week had been and noted his love for the opening introduction.
She noted: "You like that drama, don't you?"
Susanna went on to add: "I found out a bit of drama this morning. You've been to Afghanistan, you were out in Camp Bastion in 2013."
Richard then confirmed that he had as part of a BBC Three documentary Prince Harry : Frontline Afghanistan which looked at the royal's service with the Armed Forces in Apache helicopters.

Richard detailed "It was fascinating. I'll tell you a little detail that really struck me. In the canteen at Camp Bastion, there had been, not long before I went out there...there had been an incident, a green and blue incident where the British and Americans had been training Afghans and one of them turned on them in the canteen and people had died.
"And every time any soldier in Camp Bastion went for breakfast, lunch or dinner they had to take with them an armed rifle."
Susanna questioned: "Even on camp?"

Richard confirmed that despite the defences, security and procedures there they still had to sit there with an armed and loaded rifle while they had breakfast.
He noted of the moment: "As a detail, it did make me think that the danger is ever-present, it's always there, every second, all of the time."
Susanna then recollected her visit in 2014 for what felt like a "hopeful" time as Ashraf Ghani was inaugurated as President of Afghanistan.
Ashraf Ghani recently fled Afghanistan as the Taliban seized control of the country from its government.

The presenter later went on to criticise the actions of Foreign Minister Dominic Raab surrounding the crisis.
Later in the show, Royal Marine veteran Pen Farthing spoke from Afghanistan after having the Taliban at his door just moments before he came on air to speak with Susanna and Richard.
Another figure displeased with the handling of the crisis in the country was former paratrooper Ben Parkinson MBE who lost both of his legs in Afghanistan but now feels like the efforts there from the British Armed Forces were for "nothing".
