GMB's Piers Morgan forces Michael Gove to deny he ever wants to be Prime Minister

Good Morning Britain 's Piers Morgan forced Michael Gove to admit whether or not he ever wanted to Prime Minister, during a heated discussion on Tuesday.

Piers asked Mr Gove if he wanted to take Boris Johnson's job as PM, having formerly been in the leadership race for the conservative party.

Piers said: "There are rumours circulating once again that you have aspirations to be Prime Minister, and may be plotting the Julius Caesar scenario with the metaphorical blade, is that true?

"No," replied Mr Gove.

"You have no desire to be Prime Minister?" asked Piers.

"There are always rumours, but I’m very happy doing the job I am, there are always rumours but -" said Mr Gove.

Piers interjected: "The simple question is, one day do you want to one day be Prime Minister?"

"No, I think on the whole I am very happy to be doing the job that I am," said Mr Gove.

Piers persisted: "That's not a no, is it?"

"Well think Boris is doing a brilliant job as Prime Minister," said Mr Gove.

"Really? Nobody else does," said Piers. "You've seen the polls, even amongst conservative media people, they are all hammering him.

"You know once again the wolves are circling, you have been before been chief wolf when it comes to taking down Boris, I will once again ask you, simple question do you have any desire to become Prime Minister?

"Or can you equivocally say right now, I never want to be Prime Minister?"

Mr Gove replied: "I don't want to be Prime Minister, Piers.

"I love your vivid metaphors, but firstly, I think Boris is doing a good job and so do the majority of people in this country."

Piers shouted: "The majority of people do not believe that - you are lying!"

"You should have just left it at no, I don't want to be Prime Minister," remarked Susanna.
