GMB's Piers Morgan debuts new 'butchered' hairdo chopped by wife Celia

Piers Morgan was in dire need of a hair cut before resuming his post on Good Morning Britain after the Christmas break.

As hairdressers are closed in the capital amid the Tier 4 restrictions, his only option was to let his wife Celia, loose on his locks - but the former newspaper editor, 55, was left less than impressed with her scissor skills.

Sharing on his new hair-do, the TV host admitted that his wife of ten-years 'butchered' his mop on Monday's instalment of the early morning show.

Explaining what happened with co-host Suzanna Reid, Piers said: "Celia cut my hair again."

He then added: "I told her 'go short' because we don’t know, there may be a national lockdown soon."

Finding Piers' reasoning comical, Suzanna giggled as she hit back: "Well, she isn’t going anywhere, it's not like Celia is shutting down her hair salon."

Piers continued: "No, but I am trying to shut down the number of times she cuts my hair."

Suzanna teased: "So butcher it the first time? And then we don’t need to do it again."

Agreeing that he thinks his hair has not been given the best chop, he added: "As you can see! It is short, very short, isn’t it?"

He told Suzanna that he was not impressed with his new look (ITV)

Proving that she approves, Suzanna replied: "It is looking good, very good!"

Elsewhere on Monday's show Piers let rip at Kirstie Allsopp after she handed out "expert advice" on coronavirus, taking particular issue to her 'trampoline analogies', which he branded "cretinous".

Yesterday, Location, Location, Location star Kirstie slammed BBC Twitter accounts for using the platform to "frighten parents, grandparents and children".

She tweeted: "Call me when the BBC Twitter accounts have stopped using this platform to frighten parents, grandparents and children. Until then this is no place for me.

"Covid is a horrible disease, to control it we have to accept all sorts of limitations, but scaring kids is unacceptable."

Earlier, Kirstie continued to Tweet at various BBC accounts as she accused them of "scaremongering" over reports that the new coronavirus variant is "transmitting more readily in younger age groups".

Speaking to Andrew Marr, Sir Mark Walport, the government’s former Chief Scientific adviser and member of SAGE, said that he doesn't rule out the closing of schools.

Piers was clearly unimpressed with Kirstie's comments and shared a picture of the presenter, tweeting: "Of all the people I least want to hear from when it comes to expert advice on coronavirus, TV estate agent Kirstie Allsopp and her cretinous trampoline analogies are top of the list."
