GMB’s Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid ‘snog live on TV’ as viewers claim they feel sick

Good Morning Britain 's Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid shared a steamy kiss on Wednesday morning's show.

But all was not as it seemed, as the hosts adhere to social distancing guidelines in the studio, sitting more than two metres apart.

Clever camera trickery and a split screen makes them appear to viewers as if they are sitting right next to each other, but if one host moves out of their small area on screen they vanish.

This means Piers and Susanna were able to pretend to share a steamy kiss on the screen as they lined up the edges of their camera angles and puckered up.

Unimpressed viewers fumed on Twitter that the exchange made them feel ill, as one wrote: "ffs feels sick now gm #GMB ".

Snother added: " @susannareid100 & @piersmorgan kissing is either funny or disturbing and look at Morgan's hands".

"Vomit klaxon #gmb," remarked another.

" #GMB wtf am I watching," asked a fourth.

As the show returned from its break, Piers revealed there was "breaking news" in the studio as an intruder was terrifying the hosts.

A mouse had escaped into the studio, Piers explained, and was hiding under one of the cameras.

Political editor Ranvir Singh and weather presenter Laura Tobin were terrified as Piers revealed they had screamed when they saw it scurry in.

"You'd think a crocodile had arrived on the set!" he quipped.

Ranvir, who has begun training for Strictly Come Dancing, admitted on the show she had already lost half a stone since she started the regime.

Piers and Susanna complimented her appearance as she joked she was just too nervous about performing on the show, and had lost her appetite.

* Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am
