GMB's Martin Lewis discusses horror of man chasing him while with his three-year-old daughter

Martin Lewis has recalled his horror at being chased by a man down the street while with his young daughter.

The MoneySavingExpert founder said the man chased him, while shouting obscenities, because he wouldn't offer him money advice.

Martin, 49, told the story on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain which he is currently co-hosting alongside Susanna Reid.

He told his own story after footage emerged of Professor Chris Whitty apparently being harassed as he walked in London.

England's chief medical officer was said to be walking through St James' Park in the capital when he was shoved and put in a headlock.

"I will always remember when my daughter was three or four, I was taking her to the playground she was on my shoulders," Martin began.

"A man came up to me and he says: 'You're the money guy aren't you.'

"And I said: 'Not today, I'm daddy.'

"Because I've got my little girl and she gets very scared when people that we don't know approach.

"He said, 'I just want to ask you a question' and I said, 'I'm so sorry, I'm on my way to the playground I really can't do this right now she gets a little bit intimidated.'"

Martin explained how the man then started shouting "c***" at him and said he was "nothing like he was on TV".

"Well, he started calling me a name that begins with a 'C' and started following me down the road," he said.

"It made me intimidated, but it was scary, I was trying to protect her."

Boris Johnson has condemned “thugs” who accosted Prof Whitty.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating after the footage, lasting around 20 seconds, was published online.
