GMB's Laura Tobin forced to step in after Charlotte Hawkins suffers technical issue

Weather presenter Laura Tobin was forced to step in after Charlotte Hawkins suffered a technical issue on Good Morning Britain today.

Charlotte, 45, had been presenting the first half an hour of the programme when her microphone stopped working live on air.

However, viewers were unable to hear her as she began to speak about reports claiming that the impact of the pandemic is worse for women.

When the subject matter turned snow disrupting most of the UK, all that could be heard was Charlotte's muffled microphone.

Laura could then be heard trying to speak behind the noise, before continuing to interview reporters Juliet Dunlop and Nick Dixon in various parts of the UK suffering from the cold.

Afterwards, Charlotte apologised to viewers for the blunder.

She said: "Well, apologies, I've had sound issues with my microphone this morning. I've swapped it now. Thanks for stepping in there, Laura!"

The pair were later followed on the programme by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid, who took aim at trolls who made "despicable" comments about Captain Sir Tim Moore and Gemma Collins.

But, Charlotte also left Piers stunned as she danced to the GMB theme tune.

"That has got everything going," joked Piers.

*Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV
