GMB's Kate Garraway says she has 'failed' her children' with home schooling

Kate Garraway said she feels she has "failed her children" during a frank discussion on Good Morning Britain.

On Wednesday's instalment, Kate and her co-host Ben Shephard were speaking about exam results across the UK following a year of lockdowns.

The pair discussed the impact of schools being closed and the difference in the online provision of lessons from school to school, reports Liverpool Echo.

"It's been almost impossible for youngsters to deal with hasn't it, an absolute struggle," Kate said.

And speaking about her own situation, Kate added: "I know I have frankly failed my children in supporting them with their home schooling.

"I know I had a very specific set of circumstances going on for the bulk of the time, but I found it very difficult to get online and to help them to work their way through the system.

"It was very, very challenging, so I kind of think that maybe the teachers knew that and knew the potential and were trying to sort of off weigh the mental pressure they have."

Kate's husband Derek was admitted to hospital in March 2020 with coronavirus and only came home earlier this year.

Good Morning Britain airs on weekday mornings from 6am to 9am on ITV with past episodes on ITV Hub.
