Good Morning Britain presenter Kate Garraway has revealed that she would love her husband Derek Draper to be by her side at the National Television Awards next month.
The mum-of-two was congratulated on this morning's show by co-presenter Charlotte Hawkins after it was revealed that her ITV documentary 'Finding Derek' is up for the 'Authored Documentary' award.
Kate Garraway: Finding Derek followed Kate and her family during an extremely tough time in their lives as they dealt with the aftermath of Derek falling critically ill with Covid-19 in March 2020 and his subsequent long road to recovery.
Derek left hospital earlier this year and has been recovering at home with his family by his side since, writes The Mirror.
Following comments on the Covid-19 pandemic with Dr Hillary Jones, Charlotte said to Kate: "Picking up on Covid and the consequences of it, something that we must mention, because you obviously have firsthand experience of dealing with the aftermath of coronavirus and what that can mean for someone, with Derek and the family.
"Congratulations to you because your authored documentary Kate Garraway: Finding Derek has been shortlisted for a National Television Award and very well-deserved."

In response, Kate commented: "I didn't know until I saw it in the papers this morning, it's wonderful for the production company and for Derek, it's wonderful."
Kate then revealed that she had some hopes for her husband Derek to make a public appearance at the ceremony.
She said: "I was just thinking, I was just looking the ceremony is the 9th September it says there. I think it is. Wouldn't it be wonderful, if Derek is well enough to come? Wouldn't it be wonderful?"

"I was trying to work out the dates and see the logistics of how that might work. There's some brilliant people int he category and I don't think for a moment we'd win. It would just be lovely for him to be there.
"I'll start planning how that might work."

Guests commentators Kevin Maguire, Associate Editor of the Daily Mirror, and Daily Mail columnist Amanda Platel both agreed that such an appearance would indeed be "wonderful" and "beautiful".
Amanda added: "We'll say our prayers for you."
Kate noted: "We'll say our prayers."
Those present also briefly discussed former GMB star Piers Morgan receiving a nomination for his work on the show, with Dr Hillary joking it would be "ironic" if he won after leaving.
The National Television Awards 2021 will be held on September 9.
