GMB's Dr Hilary spots 'glaring error' in governments new coronavirus measures

Yesterday Boris Johnson outlined new measures to tackle coronavirus, but Good Morning Britain's Dr Hilary Jones has pointed out a "glaring error".

The new measures include a 10pm closing time for hospitality venues such as pubs, bars and restaurants and weddings have been limited to just 15 people.

The Prime Minister also reiterated the "Rule of Six" where only six people are allowed to meet in any setting, inside or outside.

In Merseyside households are already banned from meeting together in a private homes or gardens and Dr Hilary thinks the rest of the UK should follow these measures.

He explained that the R-rate of COVID-19 could shoot up even higher when five people can leave a gathering of six and meet five other friends, and so can their friends, unwittingly infecting several people with the virus - reports Mirror Online.

Speaking about the new lockdown rules and the fact the public have reported in polls they wish the measures would go further, Piers said: "In Scotland, you can't even meet people from another household.

"In England you can meet with six other people from six different people, it doesn't make any sense."

Dr Hilary said: "This is the one glaring error in which most medical experts agree, that when you have six people meeting up from potentially six different households, the potential for transmission is very significant.

"If it's two households, it's much much less, and of course if you can't visit anybody else indoors in another households as you can't in Scotland, you're going to get the R-rate down.

"The restrictions imposed yesterday don't seem to go quite far enough, they haven't changed much at all.

"This rule of six is an odd one If six people meet up, five people can go and meet five more people an hour later."
