GMB’s Charlotte Hawkins shares upbeat moment after getting Covid jab - 'we'll get there'

As a presenter on Good Morning Britain, Charlotte Hawkins has heard first hand about the importance of getting a Covid vaccine.

The ITV show regularly hears from Dr Hilary Jones about how a vaccinated population could help to protect the UK from a potential third wave of the virus.

And Charlotte, 45, has now received her first dose of the vaccine, and praised how the whole process was carried out.

She received the Pfizer jab at GLive, an arts venue in Guildford, Surrey.

And she was quick to take a photo and share it with her 239,000 followers on twitter.

She wrote: “Had the first dose of my Pfizer jab! Big thanks to the @GLiveGuildford vaccination team for a very smooth & well-ordered process.

“No photos allowed inside, but this moment means such a lot. I’ve got my ‘for freedom’ t-T-shirt on as it’s what’s going to help us all get there...”

Appearing on GMB, Dr Hilary said vaccination will be key to getting through pandemic – although other measures such as social distancing are also vital.

He warned about the risk of a third wave last week on the ITV morning show: "There will be the risk of another wave if we rely too much on vaccination because we have only vaccinated half of the population or thereabouts.

He added: "Vaccination is not the sole answer. A lot of scientific experts are saying that while vaccinations have been fantastic, lockdown has been equally fantastic in bringing down rates.

"Some parts of the country are still quite high and rising so there is no place for complacency, we've got to do this through vaccines and social distancing."
