GMB's Charlotte Hawkins recalls time Prince Philip told her 'move out the way'

Good Morning Britain host Charlotte Hawkins recalled the funny moment she met the Duke of Edinburgh.

Charlotte, 45, told her co host Ben Shephard that she met Prince Philip, who died last Friday, when she was a child, and she was awestruck when he lay his hand on his shoulder to tell her something.

But it transpired he was just warning her she needed to move out of the way, because she was blocking the Queen, she laughed.

Charlotte said: "I met him back when I was 10 years old in 1983."

"When you were 10 years old, Charlotte?" Ben asked. "She was always destined for glory!"

"I was picked to hand out a bouquet of flowers to the Queen at the Maundy service," Charlotte continued.

“I had a bit of a different haircut,” she joked.

Ben asked: "Are you the one with the bims? I thought that was you with the glasses!"

"Are you saying I look like a boy?" asked Charlotte.

She went on: "I am one of those children in there, anyway, that’s me and my ear is sticking out, which obviously delighted me in all the official photos, that was 1986."

"And the lovely thing is, you look at that photo there and the Duke of Edinburgh actually put his hand on my shoulder to speak to me.

"I was completely awestruck that he was speaking to me," she gushed.

Prince Philip's funeral will be tomorrow at St Georges Chapel at 3pm.
