GMB's Ben Shephard and Dr Hilary confess to forgetting face masks when out and about

Good Morning Britain's Ben Shephard and Dr Hilary Jones have honestly shared how they both forgot their face masks when in public.

The panel were discussing a photo of former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn which showed his face mask underneath his nose when they made the admission.

Presenter Ben revealed that he sometimes struggles to remember to pick up a face covering when out and about.

He said: "I filled my car up and I was miles away. I walked into the petrol station and suddenly realised I didn't have my mask on as I got to the desk.

"I was so apologetic, I said 'I'm so sorry, I've forgotten.'

"I pulled my jumper over my face and the person behind the desk said 'don't worry, it's fine.

"You've got to pay for your petrol, you can't run out because that looks suspicious.

"Then you realise that focus on you can suddenly make a mistake about wearing masks, they were very understanding and I was very apologetic."

Dr Hilary then shared his own story about forgetting his face covering, saying: "Everyone has done this, I've done this. I did it this week.

"I went into my local chemist, I was in a hurry, charging around for an emergency prescription for a patient of mine.

"Nobody in the chemist, and they've got screens there, they've got masks on.

"Then suddenly realised after 20 seconds that I've forgotten my mask. So quickly I put it on again, and said to the chemist 'I do apologise, I'm so sorry, I should have had my mask on.'

"But it's so easy to do. People do it as much as they remember to do it, and we all need to be extra vigilent."

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV at 6am.
